CURRENT WORK

Growth Stories

I believe in people. We share stories that inspire and connect us to growth. These forms carry those stories. Hand-built. Atmospherically fired. Assembled to wear in.

About the series

My current sculptural work traces a recurring sequence about the emergence of change.

I do not understand these as fixed stages or a linear progression. They are states we move through repeatedly. Growth is less a march toward completion than an ongoing process of discomfort to understanding. It is in the transition that we take what's needed and move forward. It is both ugly and beautiful.

My process begins with curiosity rather than a predetermined outcome. I make, respond, reorganize, and make again. Forms accumulate. Systems emerge. Something that begins chaotically may develop structure. Something carefully organized may be disrupted.

My husband Adam's nickname for me is messy Bessy. The process is overall messy.
